Notice to Designers – Artificial Turf Field Complex

(Legal Advertisement)

The University of Maine at Farmington, (UMF), desires to procure design services for the following project:

The University and the community share many outdoor recreational/athletic complexes and field space is sometimes short to meet or grow demand. The University varsity and club sport teams have increased in number and seasons needing the fields. Simultaneously, community recreational sports interests and needs have grown as well, particularly with the sport of soccer. The ultimate aspiration of the University and community is to create an Artificial Turf Field Complex.

If funding were to become a possibility, such a complex typically or potentially would include certain improvements, such as lights, bleachers, team shelters, press box, storage and meeting/officials changing space, associated parking, ADA compliant pedestrian access, restrooms, and potable water

Firms desiring to be considered for a design commission should submit a letter indicating interest and the letter should be accompanied by an original and (3) copies of the following:

  • (a) A list of similar type projects completed in the past four years
  • (b) A profile of major firm personnel
  • (c) A listing of major consultants normally used
  • (d) A listing of projects, including owners representative, within Maine which demonstrates the design capabilities of the firm

To be considered design firms must be capable of starting design work immediately following the conclusion of the selection process.

Firms/teams will be required to provide all construction and record drawings for this project on electronic media (CAD) in either .dwg (preferred) or .dxf format and prepare contract documents using AIA Contract Documents format.

The principal design firm selected for a design agreement will be required to show evidence of, and maintain through the project warranty period of one year following completion, Professional Liability (Errors and Omissions) Insurance through a Company licensed to do business in Maine, with a minimum coverage per occurrence of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000). Other required insurance types and limits are described on the University of Maine System Facilities Webpage. Click on “Supplementary Requirements to AIA Document B102-2007 Standard Form of Agreement Between Owner and Architect” and refer to Article 1.5.
