The University of Maine at Farmington Mainely Outdoors program offers offers equipment and gear sign-out and rental to UMF students, staff and community members.

Equipment Sign-out / Rental Policies

Reservations

  • Renters must be at least 18 years old or have parent / guardian signature
  • Equipment can be reserved in person or over the phone during hours of operation
  • Some equipment may require a security deposit
  • Payment is required to guaranteeing reservation

Cancellations

  • There is no charge for reservations cancelled more than 2 days in advance
  • Refunds will not be given for equipment reserved but not picked up

Returns

  • Equipment must be returned to the UMF Fitness & Recreation Center front desk
  • There is a $10 late return fee plus the base rate of days late
    Example: A 2 day late return on snowshoes = $10 late fee + $4 daily fee times 2 days = $18 total late fee
  • You are expected to return items clean upon return. A $10 per item cleaning fee charge for unclean equipment returned may apply
  • Tent rentals must be set up upon return for drying and inspection
  • You are responsible for the full cost of repair or replacement if gear is damaged, lost or stolen
