Sylvie loves working at UMF where classes are small, students are engaged, and every student can receive special attention. Also, there is great freedom to develop relevant curriculum, ensuring that classes are interesting while academically challenging.
Sylvie Charron received a Master’s degree in English from the Sorbonne in Paris and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in French language and literature. She is Professor of French at the University of Maine at Farmington and Chair of the International Studies Program. She participated in the creation of the major and is delighted to attract some of the most talented and outgoing students on campus. She also cherishes her relationship with International students who often seek her advice.
She is a strong proponent of study abroad and has long nurtured bilateral exchanges with the universities of Maine (Le Mans), Angers in France, and other universities in Québec and elsewhere.
