UMF Welcomes Incoming Class of 2017

UMF President Kathryn A. Foster, college administrators, faculty, staff and town officials gathered at the traditional Matriculation Ceremony on Saturday to Matriculation 2013welcome nearly 560 new students to the Farmington campus. Students were joined by their friends and family as they received their matriculation cords in recognition of their formal entry to UMF. According to the Daily Bulldog, 80 percent of UMF’s incoming students come from 177 towns in Maine. The 20 percent of out-of-state students come from 13 states and two countries, Hong Kong and Rwanda. Foster welcomed the students and reminded them they will be a part of this year’s 150th celebration of UMF’s founding year. Jamie Marcus, UMF director of admissions, remarked that this incoming Class of 2017 has the highest grade point average, SAT score and class rank of any class in the last three years.
