If you are a first time student employee at UMF you must first get hired for a given position. Once you have been hired you must pick up all required documents included in a hiring packet located in Merrill Center for Student Services.

  1. You are required to watch a Chemical Hazard training video at Mantor Library.  Before you view the video, you must print out the Chemical Hazard Video Form  or obtain the form from the Merrill Center Student Services.  You need to have this form with you when you go to Mantor Library.  A Mantor Library employee is required to sign this form verifying that you have reviewed the Chemical Hazard video.
  2. You are required to complete the Federal W-4 and State of Maine W-4 Income Tax withholding forms.
  3. You are required to complete an I-9 Form (if you haven’t already done so at UMF within the past year) which certifies your eligibility to work in the U.S.  This form is to be completed in the Merrill Center Student Services.  With this form you must show documentation which establishes identity and employment authorization. List of all acceptable documents are listed on the last page of the I-9 Form.
  4. You are required to fill out a work authorization form and have it signed by your new hiring supervisor.

All documents above are to be returned to the Merrill Center Student Services, Merrill Hall, 224 Main Street and are available on our website in PDF format.  If you do not have the Acrobat Reader, you can download it for free from Adobe’s website. Once the hiring paperwork is completed and returned, you will be able to begin work at UMF.
