If you are a first time student employee at UMF or you have not worked within the last year, you must fill out the required documents listed below. You will first get hired for a given position, and once hired, you must pick up all required documents included in the hiring packet located in Merrill Center for Student Services.
- You are required to fill out a work authorization form and have it signed by your new hiring supervisor.
- You are required to complete the Federal W-4 and State of Maine W-4 Income Tax withholding forms.
- You are required to complete an I-9 Form which certifies your eligibility to work in the U.S. This form is to be completed in the Merrill Center Student Services. With this form you must show documentation which establishes identity and employment authorization. List of all acceptable documents are listed on the last page of the I-9 Form.
- Within one month of beginning employment you must complete all required student employee training via UMS Academy. (You may be paid for time spent doing the training).
All documents above are to be returned to the Merrill Center Student Services, Merrill Hall, 224 Main Street and are available on our website in PDF format. If you do not have the Acrobat Reader, you can download it for free from Adobe’s website. Once the hiring paperwork is completed and returned, you will be able to begin work at UMF.
