The Partnership for Civic Advancement can assist you in determining your eligibility and exploring possible sources of financial assistance to help support your community-based work activities.
The Partnership has funding available specifically for scholarships, awards, and stipends for students who are engaged through the Partnership in community-based activities and projects. In addition to the T.H.E.O. Fund, UMF-Bangor Savings Bank Intern Awards, and UMF-Franklin Savings Bank Intern Awards described below, support is also available through other grant funding and individual donors supporting the Partnership.
Established in 2011 in honor of Dr. Theodora J. Kalikow’s 18-year presidency at UMF, the T.H.E.O. Fund provides scholarship stipends to students during the semesters in which they are engaged in internships, service-learning, or research projects that benefit the community through UMF’s Partnership for Civic Advancement.
Awards from this endowment are made on a competitive basis to eligible students involved in projects that contribute to the community and demonstrate an innovative approach to serving the public good.
Qualified students are encouraged to indicate their interest in being considered for a T.H.E.O. Fund Award when completing and submitting their Internship Application form online.
T.H.E.O. Fund Awards will cover up to 135 hours of internship work. In the form of a stipend, this award will be distributed to student interns on a bi-weekly basis during the course of performing the required hours. T.H.E.O. Fund Awards are not awarded to students engaged in paid internships. Award levels for service-learning or research projects are determined on a case-by-case basis.
Additionally, UMF offers a variety financial assistance options and the Partnership encourages students to consult with the UMF Financial Aid Office to determine eligibility for scholarships, stipends, and work-study programs.
