Description of the Internship:
The Healthy Community Coalition (HCC) is a nonprofit organization and independent affiliate of Franklin Community Health Network (FCHN), serving Franklin County, Maine, and several neighboring towns, or the area referred to as “Greater Franklin County.”  The mission of HCC is “to measurably improve the health and well-being of all people in Franklin County and neighboring towns using a coordinated approach of education, health promotion and outreach.”

Established in 1989 in response to local physicians’ frustration with the growing tobacco-use rates among local youth, HCC has flourished over the past decades, expanding its mission to the promotion of health and wellness.  A comprehensive, community-based health promotion, education and outreach organization, HCC provides prevention activities throughout Greater Franklin County.  Its affiliates include Franklin Memorial Hospital (the area’s only acute-care facility), Franklin Health (the area’s multi-specialty group practice), and Evergreen Behavioral Services. For additional information on this organization, please visit their website at:  http://www.fchn.org/hcc

HCC is seeking an intern whose duties will mainly be focused on substance use prevention grants as well as a youth engagement grant. The intern will have opportunities to explore other grants within HCC as well, including Snap-Ed, Let’s Go!, Tobacco Prevention, and others. The intern will have the opportunity to do work on their own, but is required to check in with Program
Coordinators on a weekly basis.
