Description of the Internship:
Titcomb Mountain is a community-based alpine and Nordic ski/snowboard area with 2 T-Bars, Pony Lift, groomers, snowmobiles, pumps, compressor, and other equipment.

Titcomb has been the focus of winter recreational activities for Franklin County for over 70 years and is seeking an intern to assist in all areas of operating this business.  Titcomb is seeking student interns to assist with both the mechanical operations of this ski/snowboard area and to assist the Manager of Titcomb.  Based on the interests and skills of the student, they may work in just one or both of these areas of operations.

Responsibilities:
In performing the Mechanical Operations portion of this internship, the intern will learn and have hands-on experience with a wide variety of projects and tasks and must not be afraid to work hard and get dirty. The responsibilities of the Mechanical Operations and Assistant to the Manager Intern may vary depending upon whether the intern will be working during the fall semester (beginning in September) or during the winter season (spring semester).  Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following areas and duties:

Lifts and On-hill:

  • Assembling and preparation of T-bars, take-down in spring
  • Preparation of lift-lines, lift buildings, other repairs
  • Trail maintenance
  • Learn how to operate T-bars, update employee manual, assist in documentation/training
  • Learn about and assist in the snowmaking process (generally begin in December)
  • Update signage on trails
  • General Lodge/buildings repair

Equipment:

  • Learn and assist with repairs on all equipment
  • Participate in the updating of equipment logs
  • Learn the operating procedures of the equipment

The responsibilities of the Assistant to the Manager Intern may vary depending upon whether the intern will be working during the fall semester (beginning in September) and/or during the winter season (spring semester).  Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following areas and duties:

Marketing:

  • Design and compose content for newspaper ads
  • Design, compose content and distribute community flyers
  • Prepare press releases
  • Maintain social media, including Twitter, Instagram and Facebook
  • Assist in preparing the newsletter, including design, writing and distribution
  • Update the organization’s website

Membership:

  • Maintain membership database
  • Prepare season passes and pass tickets
  • Coordinate with members to secure missing information
  • Track scholarship applications and recipients for TSCEF

Volunteers and Programs:

  • Track volunteer hours
  • Coordinate as needed with program directors to secure additional volunteers
  • Assist and/or organize various programs

Operations/General:

  • Tracking, posting, filing grooming and snow condition logs
  • Scanning, filing, coding invoices for the Treasurer
  • Secure sponsorship for special events and/or free ski events
  • Targeting mailings
  • Survey creation and monitoring using Survey Monkey
  • Fundraising coordination for spaghetti dinners, ski-a-thons, etc.
  • Cooking/tasks in the snack bar
  • Coordinate as needed to secure additional volunteers for projects
  • Work with volunteers
  • Assist with race and/or event preparation and execution
  • Tracking, posting, filing grooming and snow condition logs
  • Assist with Lodge help as necessary
Qualifications:
  • Good communication (verbal and writing) skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work well with staff, volunteers and the general public
  • Good organizational skills
  • Experience with social media and websites
  • Training and/or experience in marketing
  • Strong work ethic
  • Self-starter
