Employer: EqualityMaine
Internship Number: 508
Internship Title: Youth Engagement  Program Intern
Location: Portland, Maine
Period of Engagement: Available Each Term – Spring, Summer or Fall
Compensation: Unpaid
 Description of the Internship:
EqualityMaine is the state’s largest and oldest LGBT rights and advocacy organization. Formed in 1984, EQME has worked in coalition with local and national partner organizations to successfully amend Maine’s statewide laws to be LGBT-inclusive, including non-discrimination, anti-bullying in schools and marriage equality. Despite legal victories, there is still much work left to be done to ensure that equality is real for all members of our community. Full equality is when all LGBT Mainers are safe, healthy and whole, and living open and authentic lives—regardless of their age, their gender identity or expression, or where in Maine they live.

EqualityMaine works to secure full equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in Maine through political action, education, community organizing and collaboration.
