Description of the Internship:

MaineHealth’s non-clinical student summer internship program seeks to pair students interested in learning more about various aspects of health cre and health systems in Maine with initiatives or programs that need assistance with projects or tasks.The hours available vary depending on organization need and can range from a defined number of hours for a project to steady part or full-time work. Internships typically take place during the summer months in order to expose the student over a longer duration, and in some cases can be scheduled on other extended breaks.

Placements: Please note that the MaineHealth student internship program will place students in non-clinical positions within MaineHealth corporate and not at member hospitals or organizations (e.g. Maine Medical Center, NorDx Labs, etc.). We are looking for interns to be a part of the following areas:

  • Population Health
  • Quality and Value Improvement
  • Prevention and Wellness
  • Chronic Disease
  • Health Administration
  • Community Education

  • Must be attending an accredited educational institution, including, but not limited to;  college, university, or graduate school, medical school
  • Must be enrolled not less than half time in a course of study related to the work to be performed.

Application is made through both UMF’s Partnership for Civic Advancement and MaineHealth as follows:
I.  Students must submit all 3 documents listed below before being considered for an interview: Submissions after March 1 will not be accepted.

  1. A cover letter, including a description of your goals for an internship
  2. A current resume, please make sure you label your resume file with your name and the date that you send it.
  3. A completed copy of the Internship Application Form
