Our Vision -All children are healthy and fit because they are outdoors, active, and having fun in the winter– and year-round.

Our History – WinterKids has been a 501 (c)(3) since 2000. The WinterKids Passport began in 1997 as part of The Ski Maine Association. Through 3 strategic planning cycles, in depth research, and focus groups statewide, WinterKids continues to enhance our program delivery throughout the state with an array of active programs for families, schools, and communities. Led by a 15-member Board of Directors, 5 staff, and teams of volunteers statewide, WinterKids has broad reach and delivers programs efficiently! WinterKids has been touted as a unique, doable and fun program by teachers, coaches, ski areas, after-school directors, alternative educators, and families alike!

WinterKids is seeking a Program and Outreach Intern for their fall and spring season.  It is anticipated the intern would work 5-10 hours per week for six months (October through March).

Responsibilities:
WinterKids is seeking a Program and Outreach Intern to help promote and expand our programs.  This position requires an outgoing individual who is passionate about our mission to get kids outside and active in the winter.  The candidate should also be self-motivated, possess a high attention to detail, and be able to communicate well to a variety of stakeholders.  This position will communicate and work directly with the WinterKids’ Program Director.  Specifically, the intern will:

  1. Communicate and collaborate with schools, ski shops, resorts and local businesses to promote and expand the program.
  2. Offer support for communicating with WinterKids Challenge teachers.
  3. Help deliver teacher trainings, both in person and web-based.
  4. Seek to involve WinterKids in community and school functions.
  5. Support the Program and Development Coordinator with WinterKids Passport orders and distribution as needed.
  6. Communicate and promote through email and telephone calls and in person.
