The Partnership offers its services to all students, faculty and staff, and community members who are interested in supporting student engagement in community activities. An important focus of the Partnership is on sustainable development initiatives that have been identified through community-based processes as having high priority. These include:
Here the Partnership seeks to engage students in projects or initiatives that are intended to protect or enhance the health of the natural environment and the quality of the built environment.
Recognizing economic sectors exhibiting particular promise in western Maine, the Partnership is interested in supporting work in areas such as local food systems and recreation tourism, for example.
Complementing long standing UMF engagement in local education and community health, the Partnership is also focusing efforts in this area on arts and cultural projects as a key aspect of the quality of community life.
