Science Buildings Renovations, Campus Energy Efficiency and UMF Green Campus Commitments
Starting in the summer of 2008, both Preble and Ricker Halls underwent substantial renovations, which included the renovation/modernization of our chemistry laboratories, building window replacements, electrical upgrades, and replacement of the HVAC system. The latter installation is being completed this summer with the drilling of an 80 well  ground-thermal field in the university green that will provide energy efficient heating and cooling to the buildings.  The field has sufficient excess capacity to provide this same energy efficient heating and cooling to  a number of other campus buildings.  UMF is committed to becoming a carbon-neutral campus by 2035.
