UMF retains a strong dedication to acquiring and serving fresh, healthy local food in all its dining facilities, including the UMF Dining Hall, Snack Bar and Mantor Library Coffee Shop.
We now have a new food service contractor Sodexo who has already made strong commitments towards the goal. In fact they have committed to purchasing 20% local food by the end of 2017.
Sodexo has also launched Maine Course which is a new initiative to purchase local food to support the numerous farmers and fisherman which make this state so unique.

Addressing Hunger Issues on the UMF Campus
Given the increasing awareness about hunger on college campuses, UMF has responded with the creation of the Thrifty Beaver Co-op (TBC). This new exciting addition to campus was started in the fall of 2016 and includes a free campus food pantry and thrift store.
