Drew Barton is the co-founder and co-coordinator of the UMF Sustainable Campus Coalition. Raised in the southern Appalachians, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology at Brown University and PhD. in Ecology from the University of Michigan. He has published many peer-reviewed journal papers, popular magazine articles, and reports on forest ecology and conservation, focusing on Costa Rica, Arizona, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Maine. He is now working on a book, The Changing Ecology of the Maine Woods, with Alan White (University of Maine), to be published by University Press of New England in 2011. Drew has taught Ecology and Environmental Science for fifteen years and is currently Professor of Biology at UMF, where he has worked since 1996.
